The Joist & Flashing Tape by Deckorators is a self-adhesive butyl tape made for use in composite or wood decks.
Joist & Flashing Tape acts as a moisture barrier to elements or environmental factors, slowing the wood’s deterioration. Whether your deck foundation is made from wood or a composite material, flashing tape helps protect the top and edges of the joists from moisture and water damage. This will maintain the holding power of deck screws for a longer period of time, protecting and maximizing the life of your wood or composite deck’s substructure.
Joist and Flashing Tape can be applied to the top of joists, rim joists, stair stringers, stair treads, blocking, and ledgers to protect wood against water damage. Furthermore, being that this product is made of butyl rubber, this tape creates a waterproof membrane that prevents wood rot and decay caused by humidity and moisture. It seals around screws and nails, blocking water from entering into your deck lumber, and when placed between wood and metal surfaces, eliminates corrosion potential.
This product is offered in two different widths; 1-5/8” or 3-1/8” with a consistent length of 50 feet. Each width can meet different design or construction needs. Our 1-5/8” is for use on single-joist beams, while our 3-1/8” width is for use on double-joist beams.
This product is ideal for everything from renovation to a new reconstruction build, and is designed for ease of use for all levels of construction experience.
